UHP router can assist a mobile antenna in pointing to an appropriate satellite according to station’s current location and preconfigured coverage zones with corresponding EIRP. Therefore a mobile station may select the most appropriate satellite or its beam according to current geographic position. Moreover, the UHP router may also dynamically change its transmission levels, parameters of the carries and even mode of operation to comply with the network settings of a respective satellite beam.
UHP routers also support serial interface (RS-232) for direct connection of an external GPS receiver and may generate an analog reference signal representing a current quality of reception that can be useful for integration with previous-generation mobile antennas.
Move of a mobile terminal and change of atmospheric conditions can cause service degradation. UHP routers are equipped with Adaptive Modulation and Coding (ACM) technologies available both for forward and return channels in any modes of operation. ACM feature in conjunction with an adaptive Transmission Level Control (TLS) ensure a high reliability of the service and an efficient use of the bandwidth. Optional BPSK modulation in return channel allows reducing power density of a transmitted carrier that can be a limitation for small-aperture antennas.
